Professional Illustrator since 1986, beginning with illustration jobs for small agencies and studios in my local area. Had a diverse series of jobs, one of which for a few years was designing and illustrating an entire range of fabric prints and tee-shirt designs for the only British surf ware company at the time, SYCHO. Some time after that, I got involved with children's books and eventually moved into creating my own, four of which are shown on the site. Currently working on several new book projects and general commercial work re-touching |
I was inspired some years ago when illustrating the ancient Palace of Knossos in Crete for a children's encyclopedia (see 'Book Illustrations') with its Minotaur legend, mazes and labyrinths. I susequently found myself creating children's books with themes and ideas revolving around journeys and labyrinths and incorporating things to discover and spot along the way. These things I find give great scope to increase the child's awareness and interest in finding things. I also like to add a fair bit of humor. | |||
